Thousand Island Park Historic Preservation Architectural and Land Use Documents

Mission

The mission of the Thousand Island Park Preservation and Architectural Review Board is to protect and preserve the community’s defining architectural identity and perpetuate its unique cultural experience for all stakeholders, including owners, residents, visitors, and future generations.

Method

The Preservation Board acts on behalf of the Thousand Island Park Corporation Board of Directors to manage and apply the standards that define the community's unique architectural experience. The Preservation Board respectfully reviews permit applications for architectural changes that may affect the community’s architectural identity, integrity, and heritage. Decisions are issued through a collaborative, consistent, and iterative process that utilizes the Thousand Island Park Preservation Code as well as guidelines from outside architectural preservation organizations and encourages restoration, conservation, and community cohesion while achieving the project goals.

Values

The Preservation Board works for the entire Thousand Island Park community under an ethos of collective stewardship. Together, our community can strengthen our connections to the past, embrace our bonds to our physical spaces, and ensure that our community’s legacy will endure for generations.
